Why volunteer?

Volunteering is more than just an act of kindness; it’s a chance to make a real difference in your community. Imagine using your skills to help others and, in the process, finding a sense of purpose that enriches your own life.

When you volunteer, your time and effort help build stronger communities. The act of giving exposes you to new skills, interests and invaluable experiences. Many volunteers discover capabilities they didn’t realise they had.

Here are a couple of ways you could join our team of volunteers. Why not take action today?

Weekend Drop-in

The Weekend Drop-in for the homeless and street community currently runs on the 2nd and 4th weekends of each month at 'The Way', on Seaside Road. The Drop-in provides a safe place for guests to spend time, relax, be served refreshments, play games, read a newspaper, etc.

We'd love to be able to open every weekend but need some more volunteers to enable that to happen.

Could you be involved as a volunteer to prepare and serve refreshments, wash up and chat to guests? There will be a supervisor on duty, supported by two volunteers. Volunteer shifts could run either for 3 hours (10.00am-1.00pm or 1.00-4.00pm).

We would be delighted to hear from you if you think you might like to help.

Hope Woodwork

Our vision at Hope Woodwork is to support individuals and groups that have a variety of backgrounds, including unemployment and part-time workers, supported accommodation, substance misuse recovery, probation, receiving counselling, etc, through their life journey towards employment.

There are many areas where we need volunteers to help support the ongoing efforts of Hope Woodwork and not just in the workshop. For example, supervising, mentoring, pastoral care, sales and marketing, fund raising and cleaning.

Come join our vibrant and encouraging team. Call Ray on 07546 256411 or email info@hopewoodwork.co.uk
